ABOVE & BEYOND

Sustainability and our hotels

At SHG sustainability is much more than just a buzz word – it’s a credo that informs the construction and operation of our hotels from the ground up. In the case of The Chancery it’s a belief that influenced our decision making – from choosing fixtures and fittings to approaching how we wanted the hotel to function on a day-to-day basis.

Feedback from industry professionals and city promoters has been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that the design, construction & delivery of the hotel reflects current trends and meets the expectations of Dublin’s visitors.

THE GRAFTON

At The Grafton sustainability informs everything we do. From the packaging we use, to the suppliers we choose to work with all the way through to customer service. Going green is not only beneficial for the hotel, it also helps our guests to lower their carbon footprint(s)The Grafton is also one of very few Irish hotels to have been awarded BREEAM certification. This is used to assess nine environmental categories: energy, water, transport, management, waste, pollution, health & well-being, land use & ecology and materials. We recently were awarded the Green Hospitality Award, an award recognising businesses that demonstrate a particular commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

THE CHANCERY

The Chancery Hotel’s commitment to sustainability and bespoke design sets it apart from other hotels, offering guests a truly unique and eco-friendly experience. The hotel has achieved LEED Gold certification, earning the highest rating in Ireland and the United Kingdom under the LEED BD+C Hospitality Rating scheme. This is an Irish-designed and managed hospitality environmental certification programme and is supported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the tourism sector in Ireland.
